McKinsey estimates that AI could unlock $160–270 billion in additional profit for consumer goods companies.
AI will be used to either generate more revenue with the same costs, or reduce costs further. As per McKinsey the greatest concentration of AI applications will be in the following areas: consumer insights, demand creation, and customer / channel management.
8 areas where AI can be new teammates for Amazon sellers
As per Sequoia Capital’s recent talk, close to $50 billion was invested in AI last year. This will continue to power rapid growth in innovative AI applications, and we can expect to see a lot of that in 2025.
AI applications for Amazon sellers can now understand complex instructions, reason independently to generate human-like output, produce high-quality images, videos, and audio, and perform repetitive tasks like browsing or clicking buttons.
Here are 8 areas where Amazon sellers can use AI today, either through ready-made tools or platforms like ChatGPT:
-
Listing images: Create lifestyle images optimized for Amazon listings. Upload just your product photo and prompt the required background.
-
Listing videos: Create 5–10 second videos featuring your products. Merge many such videos to create a brand / product trailer.
-
Listing titles, bullets, descriptions: Generate rank-optimized listing content that already accounts for important search terms, search volume and your product specifications.
-
Review analysis: Gain insights to improve product or create better converting listing content from your own or competitor reviews.
-
Keyword identification: Identify relevant long-tail keywords and negate irrelevant ones.
-
Pricing: Determine optimal pricing based on past sales, past discounts, traffic, CvR, BSR, inventory levels, and competitors' pricing and sales trends.
-
Demand forecasting: Predict expected sales based on sales velocity, seasonality, and competition’s recent changes.
-
New product research: Identify gaps using customer reviews, search volume, and competitor sales
Additionally, 2025 is expected to be a BIG year for AI agents that will understand complex instructions and run real-time task execution. I’ll be sharing more on that in another post soon.
